WaveBaffle™: Engineered Calm for Every Shoreline

We install professional WaveBaffle™ wave-reduction systems engineered to cut wake impact, protect your dock, and steady your shoreline. Where a traditional breakwater bounces energy back at the water, WaveBaffle™ absorbs it, removing about 73% of a wave's energy and reflecting almost none back at the lake.

  • Removes about 73% of a wave's energy
  • Absorbs wake energy instead of reflecting it
  • Reflects almost none of the wave back at the lake
  • Modular 20-foot and 40-foot galvanized steel sections
  • Low maintenance, long service life
  • Minimal visual impact on your waterfront

What Customers Say
“Huge shout out to this company and the owner Joe for being an upstanding guy and a pleasure to work with. Joe helped me find an affordable boat lift for my situation, and when it needed some parts replaced he covered the cost himself out of his own pocket. Really cool guy and I would recommend this company to anybody.”

Common Questions

Dock questions, answered

What areas do you serve around Lake of the Ozarks?+

Big Thunder Dock Co. builds, repairs, and maintains docks across Lake of the Ozarks, including Lake Ozark, Osage Beach, Sunrise Beach, Camdenton, Linn Creek, and Four Seasons.

Where is Big Thunder Dock Co. located?+

Big Thunder Dock Co. is based at 347 Horseshoe Bend Pkwy, Lake Ozark, MO 65049, and serves dock owners across Lake of the Ozarks. We are an Ameren certified dock builder, locally owned and licensed since 1995.

Are you an Ameren certified dock builder?+

Yes. Big Thunder is one of the select Ameren certified dock builders at Lake of the Ozarks, approved to build and service docks on the lake.

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. Big Thunder Dock Co. is fully licensed and insured.

How long have you been building docks at Lake of the Ozarks?+

We have been locally owned and building docks at Lake of the Ozarks since 1995, more than 30 years on the water.

How long does it take to build a new dock?+

Most of the lead time is Ameren permitting and scheduling rather than the build itself. After your free on-site inspection we handle the permitting groundwork and give you a clear timeline along with a line-item estimate. Larger or custom builds take longer than a standard replacement.

How long does a dock last at Lake of the Ozarks?+

A well-built dock lasts for many years when it is maintained. Flotation foam, hardware, and decking each wear at their own pace, so an annual inspection catches small issues before they become structural. Keeping up with that care is the focus of our Dock Wellness program.

Do you offer free dock inspections?+

Yes. We provide free, no-pressure on-site dock inspections. Call (573) 745-4130 or request one through our contact form and we will reach out within 24 hours.

Do you build both residential and commercial docks?+

Yes. We handle residential lakefront docks and commercial marinas, from new construction and structural repairs to annual maintenance.

What is WaveBaffle, and are you a dealer?+

WaveBaffle is an engineered wave-attenuation system that absorbs wake energy to protect your dock and calm your shoreline. Big Thunder is an authorized WaveBaffle dealer and installer.

How is WaveBaffle different from a traditional breakwater?+

A traditional breakwater reflects wave energy back into the lake, while WaveBaffle absorbs it. WaveBaffle removes about 73% of a wave's energy and reflects almost none back, protecting your dock and calming the water around it. It installs in modular 20-foot and 40-foot galvanized steel sections and is Ameren approved.

What dock services do you offer?+

New dock construction, repairs, swim platforms, concrete decking, additions and upgrades, roof raises, concrete piers, re-foaming, dock removal, and an annual Dock Wellness maintenance program.
